Thinking “Big” About Open Technology

by Michal Tsur and Leah Belsky

Most of the work we do at Kaltura is focused on creating new code that will revolutionize the way media is used in different industries. Russ’s post yesterday on “The Social Enterprise” was a perfect example of how our daily work building video widgets and apps all “adds up.”

Yet, to get here, we also spend some time thinking about BIG IDEAS.

We think about the future of open source technology in a world of open APIs, the start-up ecosystem and where Kaltura fits as one of a limited set of proponents of open technology.  We think about education, the future of digital literacy, and how we as technologists and entrepreneurs are influencing the world.

Recently we decided it’s time to share some of those ideas. We wanted to expand our thinking about Open Technology by brainstorming and writing within a community.

So, we (@leahbel, @michts) started a new blog called “Open Technology.”  It’s focused more on ideas about technology and building an open source start-up than on specific Kaltura projects, so we decided to make it a separate blog.  But we hope you’ll follow along.

You can see some of our early posts: “Why Digital Literacy? Some Thought Analysis…” or “The Future of Open Source Licenses in 2011.”  We’ll be sure to share some of the “best of” here as well.

We invite you to read along, join the discussion, and “think big” with us.
